FINZELS REACH, BRISTOL'S FLAGSHIP MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT IS NOW JUST A FEW MONTHS AWAY FROM THE COMPLETION OF PHASE 1

Bridgewater House nears completion in May 2011

Residents will start to move into the stylish new apartments currently being built at Finzels Reach during September 2011, this first phase of residential development will provide Bristol with 195 new flats

The second phase of the development will provide the balance of 399 apartments at Finzels Reach, as well as the 165,000 sq. ft. of first class offices in Temple Building and the 30,000 sq. ft. of character offices in the Generator Building

The £255 million scheme also features around 90,000 sq. ft. of retail and leisure space

Designed by award winning architects Sheppard Robson, Bridgewater House will have a prominent frontage to Counterslip and will overlook the heart of the new city quarter

Sustainability remains high on the agenda; the scheme is mixed-use and re-uses a vacant city centre brownfield site. This is a conservation led scheme, so many of the site’s existing historic buildings are being retained and imaginatively re-used. Bridgewater House has been awarded a BREAAM Excellent rating

CHARITABLE CAUSES

“The Good Conrad Finzel” as he was known, was reputed to give at least £10,000 a year to Muller’s Orphanage in Bristol. To continue the spirit of charitable giving, the Finzels Reach team has tied up with a local charity in Bristol. Last winter, contemporary mugs that explored the lifestyle themes of the scheme were available to buy in all St Peter’s Hospice shops across the city.

The mugs were donated to the Hospice in support of the charity and were sold at £1 each to raise the important funds needed to continue their invaluable work in the city.

BRIDGING THE GAP

Following the completion of phase 1 this year and during the start of phase 2, the Finzels Reach team are putting together some exciting creative hoardings to enhance the public areas around the site. These hoardings will examine everything that has happened on site from Bristol’s very first bridge built around 1010. This wooden bridge was used as a meeting place where a village called Brycgstow soon flourished. The hoardings follow the progress and development of the Finzels Reach site through to the present day, and the contemporary Mobius Bridge planned for 2012.

The Mobius Bridge will link the development to Castle Park, breathing new life into Bristol and placing Finzels Reach itself at the heart of everything happening in this great city.

HDG Mansur has also commissioned artist Jennie Savage to create an art project on the history of the site, which will tie-in with these hoardings placed around the development.
